Statistics and information are provided on the offenders and programs of Hong Kong's correctional facilities for 1979.
Abstract
A general review presents information on awards and commendations to correctional personnel, refugees and persons detained under the immigration ordinance, the activities of the complaints investigation unit, triad/gang activity, psychological services, information services, staffing, accommodation, interagency cooperation, and institutional discipline. Information on inmates is broken down according to the categories of adult male, young men (14 to 21 years of age), male drug dependent offenders, women and girls, and special classes of inmates (those under the death sentence and corporal punishment, male debtors, and detainees under the immigration ordinance). Data and information are also provided on the work of the Inspector of Prisons, health services, industries and vocational training, the inmate earnings scheme, aftercare and welfare, visiting justices and prison visitors, religion, staff, and finances. Supplementary tabular data and information are appended.
