Prepared as a reference for planning and research personnel, this directory was developed by mailing questionnaires to all agencies listed in a previous publication. Although considerable effort was made to obtain a comprehensive and accurate list, some agencies may have been omitted. The directory will be expanded and updated annually. Agencies are listed under the following categories: criminal justice system, corrections/parole, courts, defense, police and law enforcement, probation, and youth services. A miscellaneous section lists university centers, the Department of Health, and the Massachusetts League of Cities and Towns. Entries contain the agency's name and address, a contact person, and composition of staff, and they describe the types of information available from these agencies. Publications range from routine reports and records to aggregate statistics, special research studies, and planning reports. The organizations cited in the directory include private associations, State agencies, regional groups, and local law enforcement agencies. A table of contents and a list of other reports prepared by the Massachusetts Statistical Analysis Center are provided.
