Annotation
Data resulting from a wide range of surveys conducted by CONtact, Inc. over a 3-year period between 1977 and 1979 are summarized by survey activity, by State and by year performed.
Abstract
The surveys covered areas such as correctional staff personnel issues; various treatment program areas; administrative and financial issues; topics related to jails, inmate rights and privileges; institutional procedures; and pardon and parole practices. Highlights include the classification of sex offenders, legal careers for ex-offenders, female correctional officers in male institutions, new construction, and community input mechanisms. The results are summarized by methods ranging from a single State-by-State commentary to reports including interrelated columnar data. Notes are included for some surveys; no narrative, summary, or commentary covering the surveys are provided. The surveys were conducted at the request of individuals such as law practitioners, researchers, and students, or as a result of needs identified during CONtact's response to information request activities.
