Index Crime rates in New York City for 1980 are compared to rates for other U.S. cities, and the city's Crime Index trends are compared to those for the Nation.
Abstract
The data were gathered from FBI and census reports. The trend comparison tables include figures for the Nation's nine other largest cities. Graphs demonstrate the city's Index crime trends by month, and other tables compare 1980 crime rates in the 10 largest cities, present the Crime Index percentage distribution per city, and display the crime rate rankings of the Nation's 25 most populous cities and of all cities with over 100,000 population.
