Abstract
The over 200 works cited include books, articles, and dissertations, which cover histories of treatment, the commitment and release of the mentally ill offender, modern institutions and treatemnt, and legal issues. With the exception of publications in the historical section, works with publication dates prior to 1960 are excluded.
