The lectures are designed to show the patterns of legal reform in various countries by tracing the history of legal reforms and by explaining the policy guidelines behind the changes. The directions of development in the various countries are then compared to the directions of West German criminal law reform. The collection is intended as a study aid to students and as an information source for jurists involved in the complexities of national criminal law reform. Countries or regions whose legal reforms are described include Switzerland, Austria, Scandinavia (with particular emphasis on Sweden), France, Spain, and Latin America. A final presentation discusses problems involved in establishing uniform criminal laws throughout the European Common Market and areas in which progress has been made through cooperative legal efforts.
