Abstract
The report discusses the composition, responsibilities, staff, and expenditures of the Hawaii Paroling Authority. During the year, the authority held 343 formal hearings on the basis of which minimum terms of imprisonment were set for 149 prisoners who had committed a total of 407 offenses, decisions to grant or deny parole were made for 149 persons, and 45 decisions to revoke or not to revoke parole were made. Applications for reduction of minimum terms previously set were reviewed for 54 prisoners. Fourteen requests for gubernatorial pardon were investigated, and recommendations were made. Sixty-five parolees were determined to be sufficiently adjusted in the community to receive their final discharge from parole status. Ten tables are provided.
