This report presents the workload of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Service Units in Virginia for fiscal year 1981.
Abstract
These courts are responsible for adjudicating the cases of juveniles charged with delinquency, children in need of services (juvenile status cases), and abused and neglected children. The units offer comprehensive services for juveniles whose offense or referral for services was made prior to the legal age of 18. During fiscal year 1981, there were 108,747 intake cases referred to Court Service Units. Intake cases accounted for 72.1 percent of the 150,907 total services completed in fiscal 1981. A total of 1,361 foster care reports were submitted to the courts in 1981. Juvenile probation/supervision composed 13,757 cases or 89.6 percent of all probation/supervision cases completed in 1981. Statistical tables present data by regions. Charts and maps are included.
