Minicomputer PROMIS, a computer-based management information system for tracking arrests, cases, defendants, and parties through the events in the criminal justice process, can easily be installed in any jurisdiction on the hardware of a variety of manufacturers.
Abstract
This document provides a general overview of the system's capabilities and general specifications, and serves as a basic orientation document for systems managers. It describes the capabilities of the system in terms of categories of use and users, as well as data elements and file design. The technical description provides a system outline and identifies the major system components. The mini PROMIS was not designed for one single jurisdiction, and a tailoring package assists users in altering files, records, data elements, indexes, and online entry and inquiry screens in an online conversational mode. Charts are provided. An 8-item bibliography lists other PROMIS documentation.
