Currently, parole board members base their decisions on their professional experience. They should increase collection and analysis of data on the effect of board activities. This report describes a process for using data based on actual parole outcomes to supplement the current decisionmaking process. It details data requirements and sources for information on parole decisionmaking and feedback and explores the feasibility of accessing the data. Also examined are the data requirements for management so that the effects of decisionmaking and any changes to it can be monitored. Study data and sample parole forms are included.
