This study examined ways to improve criminal justice training programs in Hawaii, basing its recommendations on research into present practices, surveys, and extensive interviews.
Abstract
Hawaii needs a criminal justice academy and a standards and training commission. The interest is there, the desire for a better system of training is evident, and the need for additional training is apparent. Although police training programs in Hawaii are probably as good as any in the Nation today, other agencies' training programs are weak and would benefit from a continuing education program. Footnotes, 10 references, and current and proposed training materials are included. (Author summary modified)
