The analysis found that the 1978-85 residential market in California for solar collectors made in prisons would be $475.4 million, the State and local government market would be $71.3 million, and the commercial and industrial market would be $142.6 million.
Abstract
These markets would be greatly increased after 1985, with annual sales exceeding $1,200 million in the residential market, $180 million in the government market, $360 million in the commercial and industrial market, and $59 million in the agricultural market. The efficiency of currently available flat-plate solar collectors in California ranges from 35 to 95 percent. Developments to improve efficiency are underway, which in turn should improve the market. The report discusses solar energy technology, currently available solar panels, National Aeronautics and Space Administration contributions to solar technology, a market forecast for solar panels, and a cost/benefit analysis. A bibliography and technical data are supplied. (Author summary modified)
