The paper presents a three-way generalization of the Arabie-Carroll MAPCLUS (MAthematical Programming CLUStering) algorithm for fitting an individual differences version of the Shepard-Arabie (1979) ADCLUS (ADditive CLUStering) model.
Abstract
The ADCLUS model predicts interstimulus similarity. Arabie and Carroll have devised a mathematical programming approach (MAPCLUS) with an alternating least squares technique for fitting the ADCLUS model. INDCLUS (INdividual Differences CLUStering) is a generalization of MAPCLUS and is used for fitting a particular model. After discussing this model, the paper provides an illustrative fit of INDCLUS, using data from Rosenberg and Kim (1975). Equations and five references are included. (Author abstract modified)
