The cases represent most of the Federal antitrust activity for the period, although several were excluded because a suitable copy of the court record containing the jury instructions was unavailable. A history of each case and the jury charge includes a list of defendants, the background, outcome of each action and sentences imposed in convictions, and the holding of the appellate court regarding the propriety of the jury instructions when a case was appealed. The volume then categorizes excerpts of the instructions by subject, using a simple alphabetical code for the cases. Examples of subject headings are acts and statements by co-conspirators, arguments and objections by counsel, bid rigging, burden of proof, conspiracy, credibility of witnesses, elements of offense, interstate commerce, mail fraud, price fixing, Sherman Act, and verdict. All instructions appear in their entirety except when there was a lengthy review of specific evidence. An index is provided.
