This manual presents the outline and class exercises for a basic crime prevention training program designed for law enforcement officers and other criminal justice personnel in North Carolina.
Abstract
The 2-week course aims to provide the information necessary for planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating crime prevention programs. The classes cover physical security, electronic security, security surveys, the use of field surveys, juvenile delinquency prevention, and rape prevention. Further topics are the planning and management of crime prevention programs, crime prevention in the black community, crime prevention in the public schools, effective speaking, and the implementation of Neighborhood Watch programs. Additional topics are credit card fraud, crime analysis, the analysis of crime prevention programs, and media relations. For each topic, the lesson purpose, training objectives, instructional method, materials required, and references are listed. Diagrams are also included.
