There were nine males to every female admitted to local facilities, and two adults to every minor. Misdemeanors, violations, and other admissions constituted roughly 66 percent of jail admissions and 85 percent of penitentiary admissions. White prisoners constituted most jail admissions, while racial minorities comprised most pentitentiary admissions. Nearly three-quarters of detained jail prisoners were incarcerated for 10 days or less, while nearly two-thirds of sentenced penitentiary prisoners received a term of 90 days or less.
