Each chapter includes all pertinent perspectives, sections, and parts; for example, the thorax is presented with views from above, from the right and left sides, and from the back. Its superficial and deep muscles are drawn from the front and back. A cross section of the chest wall is provided, and the lungs and trachea, pleural cavity, and diaphragm are detailed. Additional drawings depict the heart from the outside and inside, the opened chest from both left and right sides, the chest in cross section, and the female breast. This thoroughness is characteristic of all presentations in the atlas. The atlas further provides authoritative discussions on selecting the media that best illustrate the injury in question and on the presentation of medical details in a manner that conveys to the person and juror the causes and extent of an injury.
