In Alabama, there were 179,528 crimes reported in 1982, a 4-percent decrease over 1981. Four law enforcement officers died in the line of duty, and 391 were assaulted.
Abstract
The total property value stolen was $109,476,956, of which 28 percent was recovered. The report includes tables, graphs, and charts giving statistics on total Index crime, property crime, crimes against the person, arson, arrests, law enforcement employees, and deaths and assaults on law enforcement officers. Crime data are also given by city and county. Appendixes include crime by county report, composite county total, and summary of offenses with rates.
