Since 1972, the number of filings in the Iowa appellate courts soared 186.2 percent, or an average of 18.6 percent per year; since 1956, the number of civil filings escalated 143.3 percent and the number of criminal filings rose 531.4 percent in Iowa's trial court.
Abstract
Narrative and tables give the workload and a statistical summary for the Supreme Court of Iowa, the Iowa Court of Appeals, and the Iowa District Court. For the trial court, the statistical analysis covers regular civil and criminal cases, probate matters, juvenile matters, termination of parental rights, hospitalization hearings, and general activity of district associate judges. Maps and additional data are appended.
