Abstract
Police departments across the country are increasingly using video for officer training, surveillance, crime and accident scene documentation, and communication with local citizens. Important advantages of video recording are that results can be viewed immediately without outside processing, there is more recording time than on conventional film, and the tapes cost less than film and are reusable. Among the firms whose equipment is reviewed are Canon, General Electric, Minolta, Pentax, Quasar, and Sony. Illustrations are provided.
