Objectives of the survey were to assess the level and sources of knowledge of the general public about the Iowa court system and to determine the public's expectations and satisfaction regarding the court system. The sample of 501 respondents was drawn from a computer-generated random telephone number listing that includes all exchanges and individual telephone numbers in the State. The ratio of men to women in the sample reflected the male-female distribution for the State. The survey questions and respondent answers are provided. Overall, Iowa citizens do not have a thorough and accurate knowledge of the State's court system, although the level of understanding is no worse than can be expected based in previous surveys conducted in the United States.
