This document presents information regarding salary and fringe benefits of correctional personnel obtained from a survey of 91 State correctional agencies representing adult, juvenile, and probation and parole departments.
Abstract
The data provided were in effect January 1, 1982. Compensation is reported for 57 employee classifications from secretaries and clerks to the chief administrator. The data are presented in three sections: agency profile, positions and salaries, and fringe benefits. The first section reports annual budgets; services of the agencies are shown by budget size, further broken down into departments serving adult populations only, juvenile only, adult and juvenile combined, and probation and/or parole where these services are separate from the department of corrections. The second section covers the chief administrative office and all other positions in terms of regional comparison. The third section deals with a wide range of benefits for correctional personnel, including data on paid holidays, vacation days and other types of leave, as well as insurance and retirement information. The bulk of the document is in tabular form.
