Each computer program in this book corresponds in sequence to each formula in Rivers' book and must be used in conjunction with it. At the present time (1983), a computer system which would handle these programs should include a central processing unit, a video screen, a disk drive device for storage, and a printer for hard copy output. It is suggested that large law enforcement organizations budget for such a computer to be installed at a central location and used by all traffic accident investigators. Several small jurisdictions in a geographical area could each contribute a percentage of the cost and have the computer installed in a central location. Other alternatives may be to use an already existing computer or for an individual officer to purchase a microunit and use the purchase price as a tax writeoff.
