Abstract
The booklet discusses the impact of community crime on business establishments. Negative effects encompass financial losses, decisions to relocate, employee fear of crime and reduced productivity, staff turnover, and litigation suits by victimized workers. Corporations are encouraged to get involved by developing educational and preventive action programs in keeping with the goals and circumstances of the particular establishment. A series of sample programs is described and a list of companies which have joined the crime prevention campaign is provided. Specific activities for both public education efforts and employee education programs are cited. Appendixes list campaign materials presently available, resource organizations, crime prevention films, and steps for developing an employee education program. The booklet is illustrated with pictures of McGruff, the Crime Prevention Campaign symbol.
