This selective bibliography provides an overview of court delay and backlog issues and approximately 100 citations published from 1955 to 1983, with attention to the period since 1970.
Abstract
Most references concern the Federal civil and criminal courts. The bibliography includes several interviews describing the views of U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger, a vocal critic of court congestion. The overview addresses the burgeoning caseloads of all courts, public attitudes toward the courts, and steps taken to relieve court congestion. References are in alphabetical order within the following categories: U.S. Government documents, books and monographs, periodical articles, and newspaper articles.
