A Senate hearing on organized crime in the Great Lakes region described the various activities of organized crime and highlighted the difficulties encountered by law enforcement agencies.
Abstract
The hearing included testimony from Federal, State, and local law enforcement individuals as well as from concerned citizens. The testimony from 21 witnesses is provided along with their prepared statements. Testimony is provided by Senate investigators, county sheriffs, a citizen's league, the FBI, Department of Justice, Environmental Protection Agency, and mayors. Thirty-eight exhibits are included such as a Senate report on 'Organized Crime and the Use of Violence,' 'Organized Crime in Chicago,' and a signed confession from an FBI interrogation.
