Abstract
A total of 1,329 crimes are reported. Assault causing bodily harm accounted for 48.9 percent of the applications; assault, for 12.7 percent; wounding, for 10.8 percent; attempted murder, for 4.1 percent; robbery with violence, for 3.6 percent; murder, for 3.3 percent; resisting arrest, for 3.2 percent; rape, for 3 percent; assaulting police, for 2 percent; robbery, for 1.9 percent; indecent assault, for 1.1 percent; child abuse, for .8 percent; manslaughter, for .7 percent; criminal negligence, for .6 percent; and other crimes, for 3.3 percent. Every second order of the Board is summarized; information is supplied on the nature of the crime, the victim, the offender, and the compensation. Findings where the publication of evidence was prohibited are reported, including the rape of a 14-year-old girl, the sexual abuse of an 8-year-old girl, and the sexual assault of a 23-year-old woman by her stepfather. Approximately 50 applications that were disallowed are included; for example, a 21-year-old man was shot in a dispute with the offender over drug dealings, and a 7-year-old boy was injured when he fell from a window. Three tables and one bar graph are included.
