By means of in depth interviews, an effort was made to measure some of the impact of rape on victims. Data from a public attitude survey are used to examine definitions of rape and concepts of the 'ideal victim.' Variations in attitudes about sex roles, male-female sexuality, minority-related issues, and demographic characteristics are examined in an effort to describe the social context of rape. Variations among three groups (Blacks, Mexican Americans and Anglos) are described and discussed. (Author abstract)
