This report from the random digit dialing study of the Chicago metropolitan area -designed to identify the scope of anticrime activities and the processes which influence the extent of the public's involvement in those activities -- contains the variable description list and the codebook, along with an introductory section that describes data collection procedures, sampling, weighting information, related publications, file structure, codebook information, and processing information.
Abstract
A total of 5,346 computer-generated numbers were dialed a total of 15,744 times, and 1,803 interviews were completed. Contextual data were assembled from Census Bureau and police reports for each Chicago community area or suburb in which respondents lived circa to the years immediately preceding the survey. Survey data come in two formats: card-image and OSIRIS.
