Annotation
This standard establishes performance requirements and test methods for dialers that dial one or more specified telephone numbers and transmit one or more taped voice messages in response to an actuation.
Abstract
The devices transmit an alarm signal through the ordinary switched telephone network to a telephone answering service or private phone. The standard emphasizes characteristics affecting these devices' reliability and susceptibility to false alarms. It does not classify dialers by type, but covers those operating on l15-V ac power and transmitting taped voice messages. Requirements detailed in the standard cover user information, test tapes, electronics, tape speed, flutter, dial pulse, dialing impedance, voice messages, and telephone line control. The section on test methods addresses sampling, test conditions, equipment, and tests for specific requirements. A glossary, diagrams, and 10 references are supplied.
