The Stockholm Syndrome is defined as 'a normal process of bondings, accelerated by severe conditions, coupled with attitude change resulting from an inability to reject arguements.' Six conditions are identified as being necessary, although perhaps not sufficient, for this syndrome to develop.
Abstract
Four hostage incidents are examined to see which of the conditions are present and if the Stockholm Syndrome appeared. It is suggested that knowing whether or not the conditions are present in a particular instance will help law enforcement personnel predict the Syndrome. (Publisher abstract)
