Both cross-sectionally and over time, religiosity deters self-reported delinquent conduct in a national panel of white high school males interviewed as sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
Abstract
However, a deviance-amplification effect of religiosity is also noticeable: decreases from high sophomore religiosity are associated with greater senior delinquency than would be expected by simply the removal of religious deterrence. (Author abstract)
