The Bundeskriminalamt of the Federal Republic of Germany has established a 'forecasting committee' composed of social scientists and police practitioners.
Abstract
The committee's function is to combine police, demographic, employment and other types of data in order to predict future developments in crime and to help police and other authorities prepare for those developments. It is presently concentrating on juvenile delinquency and violent crime and has recently published its first forecasts and recommendations concerning the role of non-German youths in delinquency.
