This users' guide presents an introductory project description and the five codebooks for the Courts Statistics and Information Management Project (1978-80), which annually collects, compiles, analyzes, and disseminates State court caseload statistics.
Abstract
The introduction reviews project history, the scope of the data, data sources, data verification, variations in reporting periods, and file processing. The codebooks are for the five independent data sets for each of the 3 years 1978-80. The data sets cover (1) the State trial court caseload inventory, (2) criminal dispositions in State trial courts, (3) civil dispositions in State trial courts, (4) traffic dispositions in State trial courts, and (5) the State appellate court caseload inventory. The appendixes contain State identification values, State court identification values, term definitions, data errors and problems, and a data shipment description.
