This report presents tabular data on the number of Uniform Crime Reports Index offenses reported to Hawaii's police for the first half of 1983 as well as for the first half of 1981 and 1982.
Abstract
The Index offenses encompassed in the report are criminal homicide and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, and auto theft. Aggregate trends in reported Index crimes for the first half of 1983 are compared with the same period in 1982; trends in violent and nonviolent crimes for the first half of 1983 are compared to 1982. Tables present the number of Index offenses reported to the police for the first half of 1983, according to county; the rate of change in violent crimes and nonviolent crimes for the first half of 1983, compared with the same period for 1981 and 1982; the aggregate numbers of Index offenses reported for the first 6 months of each of the years 1981-83; and the percent change in violent and nonviolent crimes by county for the first half of 1982 and 1983. Two charts portray the frequency of each of the Index offenses for 1982 and 1983. A special report examines murder victim characteristics for Hawaii in the years 1978-82.
