How much does it cost to house a juvenile detainee?
The American Correctional Association (ACA) produces an annual Directory of Adult and Juvenile Correctional Departments, Institutions, Agencies, and Probation and Parole Authorities. Included in this report is institution/facility data on cost of care, capital expenditures, and operating budgets. Further information about the Directories, including how they can be obtained, can be accessed on the Agency & Facility Directories site. You can also reach the ACA at 1-800-ACA-JOIN.

For further resources on juveniles in detention, see the Juvenile Justice>Corrections/Detention section of the National Criminal Justice Reference Service site. Additionally, the Juveniles in Corrections section of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's Statistical Briefing Book site contains publications and answers to questions related to the topic.
