Which States have the highest crime rate?
Each year, with the release of its
Crime in the United States
report, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) publishes a "Caution Against Ranking" alert. This resource describes how data are collected and presented and why users should refrain from translating the data into rankings of state/local juridsictions. To view this resource, select a report from any year and then select the link marked "Caution Against Ranking."
Due to the above,
Office of Justice Program (OJP)
agencies do not publish state crime rankings.
