Annotation: THE JUVENILE DELINQUENCY PROBLEM IN HAWAII IS ANALYZED AND APPROACHES FOR PREVENTION AND CONTROL ARE DISCUSSED.
Abstract: NATIONAL AND LOCAL STATISTICS AND CAUSES OF DELINQUENCY ARE EXAMINED, WITH TASKS AND FACTORS OF PREVENTION PRESENTED. STATEMENT OF NEEDS AND PROBLEMS CONSIDERS THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN SOCIETY, YOUTH INVOLVEMENT IN PLANNING, SCHOOL RELATED PROBLEMS, AND COORDINATION OF YOUTH SERVICES AND AGENCIES. CONTROL AND REHABILITATION ARE LOOKED AT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM, THE POLICE SYSTEM, THE FAMILY COURT AND JUVENILE PROBATION SERVICES, YOUTH CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, AND THE YOUTH DRUG PROBLEM WITH EACH OF THESE BEING DESCRIBED. EVALUATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS GIVEN.
