This report presents statistics on the average daily inmate populations in New Jersey State adult correctional institutions, youth correctional facilities, juvenile facilities, halfway houses, community and residential programs, country facilities, and home confinement with electronic monitoring.
Abstract
The statistics reveal an average daily population of 23,700 offenders during the year, a decrease of 3 percent from fiscal year 1992. This decrease was the first since prior to implementation of Title 2C in 1978. The offenders included 13,971 in State prisons, 4,660 in youth correctional facilities, 572 in juvenile facilities, 354 in contract halfway houses, 638 in community and residential programs, 3,859 in county facilities, and 59 in electronic monitoring with home confinement.
