This County Detention Facilities Summary provides a monthly (July 1995) profile of Florida's detention facility inmate populations.
Abstract
Monthly average daily population figures include male, female, adult, and juvenile inmates. These population figures are arranged into felony, misdemeanor, and "other" subcategories in one table. "Other" includes the number of parole violators, State inmates, undocumented aliens, holdings for other jurisdictions, and individuals detained under the Baker (mental health) and Myers (alcoholism) Acts. Within both felony and misdemeanor subcategories, the number of inmates sentenced, held for trial or sentencing, and detained or sentenced for violation of probation are listed. Table 2 features the average daily population and incarceration rate in each county, and Table 3 lists the capacity of each county detention facility in the State, including its percentage over or under capacity. County detention facilities with amended capacities since June 1995 are also noted. Table 4 lists the number and percentage of felony and misdemeanor pretrial inmates at each facility. The 1995 Jail Population Summary at the end of the report presents detention center totals for the year to date. On the average, there were 41,891 inmates in Florida's jails during July 1995, a 2-percent increase from that reported for June 1995. 5 tables
