He emphasizes the power of choice and the importance of intense desire in wanting to stop drug abuse. Further, he does not view drug abuse and alcoholism as a disease and questions the value of a strictly psychological explanation of addiction. Drug abuse is discussed as a habit, one that can be broken with the right mindset and spiritual strength.
