This report presents the fiscal year 1997 program plans for the Office of Justice Programs and its bureaus: the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Bureau of Justice Statistics, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, National Institute of Justice, and the Office for Victims of Crime.
Abstract
For fiscal year 1997, OJP has a budget of $3.2 billion, and, with the addition of the Crime Act programs, the number of programs has nearly quadrupled. The program plans reflect OJP's commitment to address the programmatic needs of its criminal justice constituents, as well as to make its grants processing system as user-friendly as possible for practitioners. For each bureau, existing programs that will receive continued funding are described, along with new programs for which grants will be awarded. Grantees for existing programs are indicated. The report also includes brief program descriptions from the OJP Program Office: the Executive Office for Weed and Seed, Violence Against Women Grants Office, Drug Courts Program Office, and Corrections Program Office.
