The Archive, which is located in the National Center for Juvenile Justice building in Pittsburgh, receives data from juvenile courts throughout the Nation. Archive staff take the contents of each court's database as is and restructure the information into the Archive's national format. Further, Archive staff analyze data pertinent to some of the most important issues in juvenile justice, including the number of cases handled by the Nation's juvenile courts each year, the number of cases waived to criminal court, trends in juvenile offenses, and the impact of restitution or probation on juvenile recidivism. The resources of the Archive are available to academics, policy analysts, legislators, and juvenile justice professionals. Newspapers and national magazines are increasingly using numbers taken directly from the Archive's research reports to describe the activities of the Nation's juvenile courts. Juvenile justice professionals throughout the Nation have come to rely on the Archive and its staff for timely and accurate information.
