This paper provides an overview of a 1995 workshop and symposium sponsored by the United Nations and focusing on the development and use of national and international crime and criminal justice information and the introduction of information technology in the administration of criminal justice.
Abstract
The overview focuses on the need for introducing computer-based information systems, the prerequisites for improving the use of information in criminal justice management, the use of information in management and policy formulation, controls and legal safeguards, and international cooperation and assistance. It also considers cooperative activities conducted within the framework of the United Nations crime prevention and criminal justice program and the future directions of international cooperation in technology and information systems.
