The fiscal year 1994-1995 annual report of Alaska's Division of Family and Youth Services (DFYS) presents an overview of DFYS services and goals to be accomplished by the DFYS in the near future.
Abstract
Missions of the DFYS are to protect children at risk of abuse and neglect and to rehabilitate young offenders while providing community protection. The DFYS provides family-centered services, youth protective services, adult protective services, community care licensing, youth corrections, and foster and residential care for children and youth. DFYS operations during fiscal year 1994-1995 are highlighted, and funding and expenditure data are provided. Five future priorities for the DFYS are identified: (1) continue to develop partnerships with communities, service providers, and other agencies; (2) conduct thorough and periodic staff training; (3) reform service delivery; (4) promote prevention and early intervention programs; and (5) emphasize research, program evaluation, short- and long- term planning, and quality management. Appendixes include a directory of DFYS offices, data tables, and service grants. Endnotes, tables, and figures
