The chapters are organized around topics that represent issue domains that must be addressed in the development of a systemic restorative juvenile justice. In Part One, basic principles underlying the restorative alternative are examined and considered in the context of competing models and sociolegal frameworks. In Part Two, issues of consistency in practice and process are considered, and a restorative agenda for addressing public safety, sanctioning, and rehabilitation is explored. Part Three, which addresses issues of implementation, includes a case study in community justice and the dynamics of reform as well as legal issues of restorative justice. Part Four of the volume compiles and critiques available empirical research in an attempt to focus on what is known about the impact of restorative interventions on victims, offenders, and the community. It includes chapters on the degree to which the public holds punitive attitudes toward juvenile offenders and a literature review on the impact of restorative justice on offenders and victims. Part Five looks to the future of restorative responses to youth crime. Chapter references
