FINAL REPORT ON THE PROGRAM EVALUATION UNIT WHICH WAS DESIGNED TO AID IN THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS BY ALLEVIATING BLIND DECISION MAKING THROUGH PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM EVALUATION.
Abstract
IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE PROJECT GOALS, THE ST. PETERSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT ESTABLISHED THE UNIT, WHICH CONSISTS OF AN EVALUATION COORDINATOR, RESEARCH ASSISTANT, AND SECRETARY. THIS EVALUATION OF THE UNIT'S SUCCESS IN ITS FIRST YEAR OF OPERATION WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY COMPARING PROGRAM ACHIEVEMENTS TO THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES STATED AT ITS INCEPTION AND BY SOLICITING USER OPINIONS. ALL STATED OBJECTIVES ARE SAID TO HAVE BEEN MET, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF GAINING THE SUPPORT AND COOPERATION OF FIELD AND OPERATIONAL PERSONNEL, AS INDICATED BY THE USER QUESTIONNAIRES. OUTPUT OF EVALUATUION REPORTS HAS EXCEEDED ORIGINAL OBJECTIVES AND AN EVALUATION MANUAL WAS PREPARED. THE STUDY QUESTIONNAIRE AND A COPY OF A REPORT ON PUBLIC ATTITUDES TOWARD ST. PETERSBURG POLICE AGENCY PROGRAMS ARE APPENDED.
