The fiscal year 1980-81 annual report is presented for the Oregon Board on Police Standards and Training and the State's police academy.
Abstract
Created in 1961, the Board has developed and recommended minimum standards for police recruitment and training in law enforcement agencies throughout the State. The Board conducts training programs and operates the Oregon Police Academy. The Board's work is done under the following sections: Personnel Standards and Certification, Research and Management Services, Oregon Police Academy, and Specialized and Regional Programs. This year's activities have included a personnel trends study, a training needs assessment, and the preparation of a property control booklet. The Oregon Police Academy has experienced a year of budget cutbacks, reduced training, and staff layoffs. Data are provided for the Board's finances, personnel, and activities.
