Abstract
THE FILM DEPICTS SEVERAL OF THE ROLES WHICH A POLICEMAN IS CALLED UPON TO PLAY IN TODAY'S WORLD. BESET BY PROBLEMS WHICH RANGE FROM THE HANDLING OF MASS DEMONSTRATIONS OF A POLITICAL, SOCIAL OR INSTITUTIONAL NATURE TO ALLAYING FEARS OF PARENTS OF MISSING CHILDREN OR VICTIMS OF CRIME, THE POLICE ARE SHOWN IN THEIR ROLES AS A BUFFER OR AS INVOLVED PARTICIPANTS DEALING WITH THE VARIED PROBLEMS PEOPLE FACE. THE FILM ALSO SHOWS HOW POSITIVE ATTITUDES ON THE PART OF THE POLICE AND THE PUBLIC FACILITATE SUCCESSFUL MUTUAL AID. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
