What is the national recidivism rate for justice-involved adults?
A summary of findings from Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) recidivism studies is available via the Recidivism section of the BJS website. Also see BJS's Prisoner Recidivism Data Analysis Tool, which allows users to calculate recidivism rates for persons released from state prisons.

Additionally, State of Recidivism: The Revolving Door of America's Prisons, a report from the Pew Center on the States, provides national and state-level data on individuals released from and returned to prison. See the Corrections>Recidivism section of our website for additional resources.
